After a sluggish first half, City came alive immediately after the break, delivering a devastating six-minute spell that effectively decided the contest.

Nico O’Reilly opened the scoring in the 51st minute, heading home from close range after a well-delivered cross from Rayan Cherki.

Just six minutes later, Marc Guehi doubled the advantage with a clinical finish, capping a brilliant solo move initiated by Cherki, who carved open Chelsea’s defence with a sublime through ball.

Jeremy Doku sealed the victory in the 68th minute, capitalising on a costly error from goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, who played a risky pass into midfield that was swiftly punished.

City’s victory could prove pivotal in the title run-in, as they now prepare for a potentially decisive clash against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on April 19.
