Soludo Suspends Workers For Being Absent During Surprise Visit

Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has ordered the suspension of civil servants who were absent from their duty posts by 10 a.m. on Thursday.

Naija News reports that the directive followed a surprise inspection of the state secretariat in Awka, where Soludo assessed workers’ punctuality, conduct, and dedication across various ministries and departments.

During his rounds, the governor found that many workers had not reported for duty by the set time.

He said those absent without valid reasons would face suspension without pay.

Soludo described the situation as a mix of committed and uncommitted staff, pointing out that inefficient workers would be removed to maintain a productive civil service.

While expressing displeasure with absenteeism and poor work habits, the governor also acknowledged the efforts of diligent employees.

“I walked in office by office and found a significant number of workers not yet at work, as at past 10 a.m. This is unacceptable,” he said.

He stressed that the government would no longer tolerate indiscipline and lack of commitment among staff.

Soludo reiterated his plan to maintain a disciplined and result-oriented workforce, with strict enforcement of reforms aimed at improving performance.

He added that the state had invested in better infrastructure and improved working conditions at the secretariat.

Workers were urged to match these improvements with dedication, punctuality, and higher productivity.
