Delta APC Denies Attack On Ibori-Suenu, Dismisses Congress Violence Claims

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State on Saturday refuted reports of an attack on the member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, describing the claims as media sensationalism.

Naija News reports that the party also dismissed allegations of violence and the emergence of parallel executives following its recently concluded local government congress in Ethiope West and other parts of the state.

In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, and made available to journalists in Asaba, the party maintained that the congress was conducted peacefully across the state.

Onojeghuo insisted that there was no breach of peace anywhere in the Delta during the exercise.

“There were no parallel congresses anywhere in Delta State. Those peddling such reports are living in self-denial and seeking relevance through deliberate distortion of facts. The APC structure in Delta State is intact, cohesive and fully integrated,” he said.

He added that the congress was held in strict compliance with the party’s constitution and guidelines approved by its National Working Committee.

“Since 2014, this is the first time our party has successfully conducted congresses across Delta State in such a peaceful manner,” he stated.

The spokesman noted that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission monitored the process, which he said underscored its transparency and credibility.

He also lauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for fostering what he described as improved unity within the party.

“The era of impunity, exclusion and divisive politics is over. What we have today is a broad-based and inclusive structure that accommodates both longstanding members and new entrants,” Onojeghuo added.

The party congratulated newly elected executives across the 25 local government areas and reaffirmed its commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It urged members to close ranks and support the new executives, stressing that the Delta APC remains united and prepared for future political engagements.
