Everton midfielder Jack Grealish has been ordered to pay £1,044 by a Liverpool magistrates court after his £210,000 Lamborghini was caught running a red traffic light during a late night drive in the city.
Jack Grealish, 30, who is currently on loan at Everton from Manchester City, was prosecuted by Merseyside Police following the incident, which took place in September last year on the outskirts of Liverpool city centre.
Cameras recorded Grealish’s distinctive sky blue supercar travelling along Leeds Street and Vauxhall Road, passing through a traffic signal 1.4 seconds after it had turned red.
Rather than being convicted for running the red light itself, Grealish was found guilty of failing to provide information to police about who was driving the vehicle at the time. Court records show he did not enter a plea, and the case was handled in a closed session last week.
Kevin Scott, safer roads unit manager for Merseyside Police, told the court that officers sent letters to a Manchester address in September and later to a £5.6 million property in Cheshire in November, requesting confirmation of the driver’s identity.
However, Mr Scott said the footballer had “failed to comply”.
The original charge of running a red light was later dropped, but Grealish was convicted of failing to give information relating to the identification of a driver when required by law.
Magistrate Paul Farquhar issued six penalty points on Grealish’s driving licence, imposed a £660 fine, and ordered him to pay £120 in court costs along with a £264 victim surcharge.
The incident occurred shortly after 11:30 pm on 12 September, just a day before Grealish featured for Everton in a goalless Premier League draw against his former club Aston Villa.
The former Aston Villa captain, whose £100 million move to Manchester City in 2021 made him the most expensive British player at the time, recently confirmed that injury has brought his 2025-26 season with Everton to an early end.
