Fubara Approves Immediate Employment For Children Of Fallen Heroes

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has directed that children of servicemen who died while serving the country should be employed without delay in the state.

Naija News reports that the directive was given on Thursday during the Armed Forces Remembrance ceremony at the Government House in Port Harcourt, held as part of activities for the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

The governor asked the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Benibo Anabraba, to ensure that the employment plan is carried out at once for those affected.

Fubara explained that the move is part of the state’s wider support for the Armed Forces, other security agencies, and relatives of officers who lost their lives in active service.

He said the government considers the welfare of these families a duty and a way to give them economic support after their loss.

The governor assured that Rivers State would keep working closely with military units in the state by offering welfare and logistical backing to help them perform their duties better.

He praised troops serving in different parts of the country, including those fighting Boko Haram and other armed groups in the North-East, as well as soldiers tackling banditry and kidnapping in the North-West and North-Central regions.

He also spoke about security efforts in the South-East and South-South, where forces are engaged in stopping pipeline damage, crude oil theft, and other crimes on land and sea.

Fubara paid respect to soldiers who died during the First and Second World Wars, the Nigerian Civil War, peacekeeping missions abroad, and recent internal security operations.

The governor commended President Bola Tinubu for steps taken to improve the welfare of the military, provide better equipment, and address security issues across the country.
