Bello Turji’s Terrorists Strike Gajit Community In Sokoto, Abduct Scores
Terrorists loyal to notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, on Tuesday night launched a deadly attack on Gajit community in Lajinge District of Sabon Birni Local Government Area, Sokoto State, leaving at least two people injured and more than 20 residents kidnapped.
SaharaReporters gathered that the assailants, who arrived in the community “in large numbers” late on Tuesday, unleashed terror before withdrawing.
Confirming the incident, security alert platform Bakatsine said the assault formed part of “a series of coordinated attacks allegedly carried out by Bello Turji’s loyalists across communities in the Sokoto East Senatorial District.”
The Gajit attack came just days after the same armed group launched fresh violent offensives aimed at seizing control of several communities in Sokoto State’s eastern district.
SaharaReporters had earlier reported that the notorious bandit kingpin began his latest campaign with a brutal raid on Tidibale village in Isa Local Government Area (LGA) on Monday night. According to eyewitnesses, the armed group stormed Tidibale in large numbers, forcing terrified villagers to flee.
In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, residents were seen vacating their homes in the middle of the night, with families escaping to neighbouring communities for safety.
Days before the Tidibale raid, Bargaja village, also in Isa LGA, was attacked in what security sources describe as “a systematic campaign to expand Turji’s control over strategic rural settlements.”
Despite repeated assurances from authorities, communities across Sokoto State continue to suffer from attacks, abductions and forced displacement linked to armed bandits operating in Sokoto and neighbouring states.
