Dele-Bashiru Returns To Lazio Squad, Osimhen Steps In To Help Cancer Patient

Super Eagles of Nigeria midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has been cleared to rejoin Lazio’s Serie A squad after working his way back to full fitness.

Dele-Bashiru, 24, was removed from the club’s roster in September, shortly after picking up an injury in the Derby della Capitale against Roma. His absence opened space for Elseid Hysaj, who was drafted in while the Nigeria international recovered.

Naija News reports that Lazio had held off on confirming his reinstatement, mindful that he could be away with Nigeria for the Africa Cup of Nations in December. There has also been quiet talk around the club that he might be allowed to leave during the January window, although no firm decision has been made.

The former Sheffield Wednesday player has featured only four times in the league this season but is expected to be involved when Lazio visit AC Milan at the San Siro on Saturday.

Meanwhile, fellow Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has drawn widespread praise after donating ₦5 million, roughly £4,500, to support the breast cancer treatment of popular online food vendor and 𝕏 personality, Aunty Esther.

Osimhen, currently with Galatasaray, stepped in after a heartbreaking video emerged of Esther Omolola Mensah crying in agony while appealing for help from her hospital bed. The clip, which quickly spread across social media, showed the extent of the cancer damage to her chest and sparked a wave of concern among her followers.

Osimhen’s gift on Wednesday stands as the largest single donation so far. In a message of thanks shared publicly, she wrote: “Thank you, Uncle Victor Osimhen. God bless u abundantly.”

The striker himself is managing his own setback after missing Galatasaray’s 1-0 Champions League loss to Union Saint-Gilloise on Tuesday because of injury. He is on course to return to action in time for the Turkish side’s derby clash with Fenerbahçe on December 1.
