Obaseki’s Former Aide Gets New Appointment

The Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun, Centre for Sustainable Development FUPRE-CSD has appointed Benjamin Atu, to head the media and Public Enlightenment department of the Centre for Sustainable Development.

Naija News reports that Atu will be in charge of crafting and implementing the centre’s communication strategy to effectively reach both internal and external audiences.

Dr. Emeka Elemike, the Center’s Director, confirmed the appointment, which began on May 1st, 2025.

Benjamin Atu boasts a rich and robust media/press management resume which includes; Chief Press Secretary to Dr. Ngozi Olejeme, former Chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF); Senior Special Assistant to Governor Godwin Obaseki and Spokesperson for the Edo State Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu. He was also the former Personal Assistant and spokesman to the immediate past Senator who represented Edo North Senatorial district in the Nigerian Senate, Senator Francis Alimikhena at the National Assembly Abuja. Atu is currently the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman of Etsako East local Government Council Hon. (Princess) Benedicta Attoh.

Benjamin Atu started his media career at the Delta Broadcasting Service Asaba in 2004. He was a news cameraman, reporter, film editor, TV and Radio presenter, and producer of various popular television and radio programmes including Government on the Move, The Man on the Street, Candid Issues, The Library and Presenter of PEP talk segment on PEP show.

He is an Alumni of the Delta State University Abraka, and National Open University Abuja and has his Master’s degree (M. Sc) from the University of Benin (Uniben) Benin City with other certificates in various fields of interest.

By this appointment, Benjamin Atu, a veteran broadcaster, is expected to bring his strong communication and analytical skills, building relationships with journalist, creating and managing content, developing and executing public awareness campaigns among others.
