Super Falcons’ interim head coach, Justine Madugu, has emphasized the critical role that Asisat Oshoala plays in the team, despite her absence from the national team.

Asisat Oshoala who currently plays for Bay FC, was not included in the 20-player squad announced by Madugu on Sunday for an upcoming international friendly match against France.

Before this, Oshoala was also left out of the team’s double-header friendly against Algeria that took place last month.

In addressing her exclusion from the upcoming match against France, Madugu clarified that it stemmed from a specific documentation issue rather than any performance-related concerns.

“In my view, Asisat Oshoala remains a vital member of the Super Falcons and continues to be an important player for us,” Madugu told reporters. “Unfortunately, she is currently dealing with a documentation problem in the United States, which is the primary reason for her absence from this game.”

Madugu explained that Oshoala’s visa and work permit have expired, prompting her ongoing efforts to renew these essential documents.

“This challenge prevents her from travelling outside the US until the paperwork is properly sorted out,” the Super Falcons coach continued. “It is important to clarify that her lack of invitation for this fixture is solely due to these documentation issues and not a reflection of her skill or contribution to the team.”

The Super Falcons are set to face France in Angers at 9:10 p.m. this Saturday, and the coaching staff remains committed to ensuring that Asisat Oshoala can rejoin the squad once her documentation is in order.
