NPFL Updates: Niger Tornadoes Coach Proud Of Defeat, Amokachi Optimistic, See Others
Niger Tornadoes’ technical adviser, Majin Mohammed, said he is proud of his team despite suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat against El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 12.
“While it was a difficult loss and certainly painful, I am proud of the character we displayed on the field,” Mohammed told reporters after the NPFL game.
“We will learn from this experience, move forward, and focus on our upcoming challenges.”
As it stands, Niger Tornadoes are in ninth place on the table with 17 points.
Amokachi Optimistic
Lobi Stars’ technical adviser, Daniel Amokachi, expressed determination to enhance the team’s performance despite facing challenges this season.
The Makurdi club suffered their sixth loss of the season in a match against Sunshine Stars on Sunday night.
After the defeat, Amokachi said: “We created multiple scoring opportunities, but unfortunately, we weren’t able to capitalize on them.
“Although this season has presented us with difficulties, we are committed to reassessing our strategy, addressing our weaknesses, and continuing to strive for improvement.”
Sunshine Stars Coach Praises Players
In the wake of their victory over Lobi Stars, Sunshine Stars head coach Bobola Akinfolarin praised his players for their commendable teamwork. Promise Awosanmi’s solitary goal secured a 1-0 win during Sunday’s matchday 12 encounter in Ijebu-Ode.
“This victory is a testament to the collective effort of our players, management, and dedicated supporters,” Akinfolarin stated. “Now, we’ll shift our focus to our next match against Enyimba International FC in Aba.”
Currently, Sunshine Stars sit in 11th place on the league table, with 16 points.
Finidi George Happy With Draw
Rivers United’s technical adviser, Finidi George, said his team’s strong performance in their goalless draw against Remo Stars was the best of the season.
The match at Remo Stars Stadium saw both teams unable to find the back of the net.
After the draw, Finidi George said: “It was a solid game from our players, and we certainly created several chances. We felt we deserved more than just a point.”
