The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will officially present certificates of return to Ondo State Governor-elect Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Olayide Adelami on Wednesday.

The presentation will take place at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja, according to Rotimi Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, who confirmed the development to Punch on Monday.

“The certificates of return will be presented by the commission to the governor-elect and his deputy on Wednesday,” Oyekanmi said.

Aiyedatiwa, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared the winner of the governorship election after securing 366,781 votes, decisively defeating the Peoples Democratic Party’s Agboola Ajayi, who garnered 117,845 votes.

The governor-elect’s victory, which included winning all 18 local government areas of the state, solidifies APC’s dominance in Ondo State.

The certificate of return presentation is a statutory process marking the official conclusion of the electoral process and affirming the mandate of the elected officials.

Aiyedatiwa is set to begin a fresh term in office, with expectations high for his administration to address critical developmental challenges in the state.

Naija News reports that Aiyedatiwa’s victory has been commended by former president, Muhammadu Buhari, and other prominent Nigerians.
