#OndoDecides2024: Gov Aiyedatiwa Reacts To Election Victory, Pledges Commitment To Service

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has expressed gratitude to the people of the state for renewing his mandate, pledging to serve them diligently following his victory in the Saturday governorship election.

Speaking to journalists in Akure, the state capital, after being declared the winner, Aiyedatiwa said, “I thank Ondo for the renewed mandate given to me to be their gov beyond 2025 and I promise to serve them.

Naija News reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Aiyedatiwa, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner after he secured the highest number of votes in the election.

The election was conducted in 3,933 polling units across all 18 local government areas, with INEC reporting that over 1.7 million PVCs were collected, accounting for 85.6% of the state’s 2.05 million registered voters.

Aiyedatiwa defeated notable contenders, including Ajayi Agboola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olorunfemi Festus of the Labour Party (LP), and Abbas Mimiko of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

INEC’s Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, Prof. Akinwumi Olayemi Durotimi, declared Aiyedatiwa the winner, revealing the final results:
– Lucky Aiyedatiwa (APC): 366,781 votes
– Ajayi Agboola (PDP): 117,845 votes
– Olorunfemi Festus (LP): 1,162 votes

With this victory, Aiyedatiwa secures another term as governor, extending his leadership beyond 2025.
