MC Oluomo Remains President – NURTW
The Southwest Coordinator of Elders’ Forum of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Moshood Ajao, has dismissed report that Appeal Court nullified the election of Musiliu Akinsanya , known as MC Olumo, as the union’s national president.
Moshood Ajao said MC Oluomo remains the NURTW president, stressing that reports concerning him was misleading.
Ajao, in a statement on Saturday, explained that Akinsanya was elected at the Zonal Delegates Conference of NURTW in Osogbo on November 9, 2024 and was never a party to any court proceedings.
According to him, “Akinsanya neither filed nor was part of the appeal that was described as devoid of merit”.
He noted that the Appeal Court judgment was delivered in Abuja on November 8, 2024 while the Zonal Delegates Conference in Osogbo was conducted on November 9, 2024.
“Members of NURTW, particularly delegates at conference and Alhaji Akinsanya were not aware of any judgment when the election was conducted,” the Nation quoted him.
Ajao stated that the decision to elect Akinsanya as President of NURTW was to achieve peace in the union as he was not a party to any litigation and crisis of leadership in NURTW.
Meanwhile, Naija News reported that Alhaji Ibikunle Tajudeen Baruwa, the NURTW President, condemned the move to inaugurate MC Oluomo as president despite court judgement.
Baruwa said it would be a direct violation of judgments from both the National Industrial Court and the Court of Appeal, which affirmed him as the legitimate leader of the union
