Former APC presidential aspirant, Charles Udeogaranya has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s participation in the Arab-Islamic Summit, describing it as a “gross misconduct of the Nigerian Constitution.”

According to Udeogaranya, Nigeria’s secular status means the President’s actions are inappropriate and constitute an impeachable offence.

Vanguard noted that Udeogaranya claimed that Tinubu’s representation of Nigeria at the summit not only violated the nation’s constitutional values but also grievously disparaged the Nigerian people and its Constitution.

Udeogaranya stressed that Nigeria, while religiously diverse, is not aligned with Arab affairs.

“Nigeria is a non-Arab nation and the most populous black nation, with various ethnic orientations and insignificant Arab-leaning ethnic groups,” he stated, warning against misrepresenting Nigeria’s identity on the international stage.

He urged the National Assembly to caution President Tinubu against similar actions in the future, reminding them of the need to respect the religious composition and international alliances that align more closely with Nigeria’s interests.

Naija News had earlier reported that President Tinubu departed Abuja on Sunday for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to attend the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, which focuses on the current situation in the Middle East.

It is being held at the invitation of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and follows last year’s summit in the same Saudi city.
