Nigerian Army Releases Burial Arrangements For Late Chief Of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja
The Nigerian Army has announced the burial arrangements for the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Taoreed Lagbaja, who passed away at age 56 after battling an undisclosed ailment.
Onyema Nwachukwu, spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, disclosed the details in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.
According to the statement, a service of songs will be held on Thursday between 5 pm and 7 pm at the Army Headquarters Garrison Parade Ground, Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja, to honour the life and contributions of the late COAS.
The funeral service is scheduled for Friday at the National Christian Centre in Abuja’s Central Business District, taking place between 10 am and 12:45 pm.
Following the funeral, Lagbaja will be laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery between 2 pm and 6 pm.
Lagbaja was appointed Chief of Army Staff by President Bola Tinubu on June 19, 2023.
His death has been met with widespread sorrow, with colleagues and well-wishers paying tribute to his dedication and service to the nation.
The Nigerian Army has invited members of the public, particularly those within the military community, to attend the ceremonies as they lay to rest one of the nation’s top military officers.
