Kano Assembly Majority Leader Speaks On Alleged Rift Between Governor Yusuf And Kwankwaso
The Majority Leader of the Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Husseini Dala, has dismissed rumours of a rift between Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, and the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Addressing journalists at the State Assembly complex on Monday, Dala stated that the alleged discord was merely a fabrication spread by those he described as “enemies of progress” outside Kano State.
The Kwankwasiyya Movement, a significant force within the ruling New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano, played a pivotal role in the political success of the governor, who is closely aligned with Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate.
Dala characterized the relationship between Yusuf and Kwankwaso as that of “father and son,” emphasizing that both share a mutual commitment to the state’s progress.
The lawmaker also clarified that there is no conflict between the Kano State House of Assembly and Governor Yusuf.
He stated, “Some people are all out and sponsored from far away Abuja to come and create rancour in Kano to distort the cordial relationship that exists between the legislative arm of government and the governor, leader of the Kwankwasiya Movement. The relationship between Engr Abba and Engr. Kwankwaso is a father-son relationship.
“By the grace of God, they will feel ashame of what they are doing and they will fail.”
On the position of the Assembly on calls for the governor to assert himself politically and break away from Kwankwaso’s grip, the House majority leader emphasized that the governor is an independent-minded politician and was governing the state according to the dictates of his oath of office, noting that those making the calls for separation have the intention of creating a crisis in the state.
He said those behind such calls would fail and would never come back to power, emphasizing that the governor and the State Assembly members were utterly loyal to the NNPP and Kwankwasiya leader, Senator Kwankwaso.
