Nigerians Attack Tinubu’s Minister For Using Road Construction For Campaign Ahead Of 2027
Minister of Works, David Umahi, has stirred up a backlash on social media after suggesting that the launch of phase 1B of the long-awaited Sokoto-Badagry expressway could hinge on political outcomes in the 2027 elections.
Naija News reports that Umahi, while addressing the people of Sokoto, hinted at their support being crucial for the continuation of the project, indirectly linking road construction progress to campaign promises.
Umahi acknowledged that while road construction projects have been delayed for decades, President Bola Tinubu finally initiated action on the expressway, a project first proposed 48 years ago.
However, some Nigerians slammed the Minister with claims that Umahi was using basic amenities to campaign.
