APC Secures All Local Government Seats In Kogi Elections
The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has officially declared candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winners of all 21 local government chairmanship seats and 239 councillorship positions in the elections held on Saturday.
KOSIEC Chairman, Mr. Mamman Nda-Eri, announced the results during a press briefing in Lokoja, emphasizing that the election was peaceful, free, fair, and credible.
Among the notable outcomes of the election was the election of a female chairperson in the Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area, marking a significant achievement for women’s representation in the state’s political landscape.
Nda-Eri commended the electoral process and the active participation of voters, which he credited for the successful conduct of the elections.
He reiterated the commission’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process in future elections.
“The APC performed excellently, winning all chairmanship and councillorship positions, leaving nothing to the other 18 political parties that participated in the election.
“The results at the headquarters were earlier declared at the various collation centres by the respective Returning Officers.
“As Chairman of KOSIEC, I hereby confirm the results previously collated and returned by the Returning Officers,” he stated.
Nda-Eri thanked the electoral officials, security agencies, observers, and journalists for contributing to the election’s success.
