A fire broke out at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Works in Mabushi, Abuja, shortly after workers resumed on Friday morning.

The fire was caused by a spark from a faulty circuit breaker on the ground floor but was swiftly contained, preventing significant damage.

The Director of Press and Public Relations, Mohammed A. Ahmed, confirmed the incident, stating, “The fire started at 11:30 am in Block A, originating from a faulty circuit breaker in the electrical control room on the ground floor.”

According to the Station Commander of the Federal Fire Service, Mr. Kekai Bekebi, the fire was quickly brought under control by his team using fire extinguishers, and staff were safely evacuated.

Director of Human Resource Management, Mr. Aliyu Abdullahi, reported that there were no injuries, casualties, or loss of documents during the incident.

He also praised the staff for their orderly behavior during the evacuation.

Normal operations have since resumed, with maintenance teams clearing debris and restoring the affected areas.
