Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has confirmed that two of his star players were badly injured in their Spanish La Liga game against Villarreal on Saturday.

The reigning La Liga champions, Real Madrid, emerged victorious over Villarreal with a 2-0 scoreline, courtesy of goals from Federico Valverde and Vinicius Junior.

However, the celebrations were dampened when Vinicius, the Brazilian winger, had to be substituted shortly after scoring due to a shoulder injury.

Soon after, Spain international Carvajal had to be stretchered off the field with a serious knee injury.

Following the Spanish La Liga game, Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti expressed deep concern for Carvajal while acknowledging that Vinicius was in pain.

The coach said: “Dani Carvajal has suffered a serious knee injury. We’re all very sad.”

He added: “Vinicius Jr is in pain and will undergo tests in the next hours. His neck is blocked; he has suffered a problem, and that’s something we need to check with the medical staff.”

The absence of these two-star players is a big loss to Real Madrid, who are struggling to defend their league title successfully. They are currently sitting second in the league table with 21 points in 9 games, three points above first-placed FC Barcelona.
