German defender, Antonio Rudiger has revealed that the delay in contract talks with Chelsea prompted his decision to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Antonio Rudiger expressed that the chance to join Real Madrid was irresistible, given that such opportunities don’t come often.

Rudiger also mentioned that winning the Champions League with Chelsea played a significant role in his move to the Spanish giants.

“There was a massive period of no talks. Sometimes you have in your mind, okay, let’s not get injured, but I didn’t do this; I was still playing at my best”, Antonio Rudiger told Inside Scoop.

“I also knew in my mind that the Champions League we won could be my ticket to the biggest club in the world, Real Madrid does not come knocking often.”

Meanwhile, Antonio Rudiger has named Sergio Aguero as the toughest opponent he has faced on the field. He also praised Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, describing them as more than human beings.

The Germany international said, “For me, the striker who gave me a lot of headaches was Kun Aguero. That guy was really tough to play against, really tough. Like, I could say Messi or Ronaldo, but for me, they are from a different planet, so we go with human beings.”

On the best player he has played with, Rudiger added, “…You know I could have mentioned Luka Modric, like Tony Kroos and Eden Hazard, but I have to go with Karim Benzema because he was a hell of a striker. His intelligence is wow! World Class.”
