Lazio manager, Marco Baroni has expressed his confidence in Super Eagles of Nigeria star, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru‘s potential to excel as a midfielder after a superb display in the Europa League.

Recall that Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, 23, not only scored a goal but also provided an assist during Lazio’s 3-0 victory against Dynamo Kyiv in the UEFA Europa League clash on Wednesday.

In the post-game interview, coach Baroni emphasized the importance of Dele-Bashiru’s tactical development and overall game awareness, stating that once he hones these skills, he will evolve into a formidable modern midfielder.

“When I say that he needs to be built, I mean that he must focus more on tactics and how to fill the game rather than only when the ball is at his feet,” Baroni told Sky Sport Italia.

“Once he gets that, Dele-Bashiru will become a great modern midfielder.”

So far this season, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has played four times for Lazio in which he scored a goal and provided an assist.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles of Nigeria and Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers has called on his teammates to prepare themselves for a challenging match against Malmo in the Europa League clash scheduled for 5:45 p.m. tonight, September 26.

Malmo, who currently hold a commanding eight-point lead at the summit of the Swedish league, have a strong track record against Scottish clubs, with just one defeat in their last eight encounters dating back to 2011.

Despite this, Philippe Clement’s squad enters the Europa League game with high spirits following their recent 3-0 triumph over Dundee.

In line with that, Dessers expressed optimism that the victory over Dundee would instil confidence in the team and propel them to deliver a strong performance against Malmo.

“Malmo away is not an easy start, but these are the games you want to play when you’re playing in Europe,” Dessers said.

“I think (the win over Dundee) can give us some confidence, a boost, and hopefully we can have a good performance there as well and hopefully win.”
