Arsenal center-back, William Saliba, believes that winning trophies is the key to being recognized as the best defender in the world.

While William Saliba expressed confidence in his abilities, having played a pivotal role for both Arsenal and the France national team, he emphasized the importance of winning titles to solidify his status as one of the best defenders in the world.

Most football enthusiasts believe that the Frenchman has done enough to be seen as the best defender in the world.

At just 23 years old, William Saliba has established himself as the most reliable defender at Arsenal. Within two seasons, the France international has scored five goals and provided two assists in 87 games in all competitions for the Gunners.

Last season, Saliba was the most prominent figure in Arsenal’s push for the Premier League title. He played the club’s entire 38 league games.

In the international scene, Saliba has made 23 appearances for France’s national team, including six straight matches at the just concluded Euro 2024 in Germany.

“I have been on the right track for both seasons, mainly last season”, William Saliba told Fox Sports.

“I’m perhaps on my way to becoming the best defender in the world. I think I’m one of the best at the moment, but to say that I have to win some titles. I think that’s what I’m missing right now.

“If you win titles, you’re good and if you don’t, you can’t say you’re the best. That’s what I believe. I’m one of the best in the world.”
