Gun Fired At Club Where Donald Trump Was Playing Golf
Gunshots were fired on Sunday at Donald Trump’s golf club, where the Republican presidential candidate was playing.
According to a statement released after the incident by the campaign team of the former American president, Trump is currently safe.
The statement signed by the Trump Campaign Communications Director, Steven Cheung, said the gunshots were fired in the vicinity of the Republican candidate.
“President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time,” the statement read.
Naija News reports this is the second time in recent times that gunshots would be fired close to the former American president as the race to the White House draws closer.
It would be recalled that back in July, Trump survived an assassination attempt on him when a gunman fired at him during a campaign rally.
Trump survived the assassination attempt with a wound to his right ear. The suspected gunman was shot and killed by a Secret Service sniper less than 30 seconds after firing eight shots.
The attack also resulted in two rally attendees sustaining serious injuries and the death of a 50-year-old Pennsylvania firefighter.
The attack took place from the roof of a nearby building, where Crooks used an AR-style assault rifle to target Trump shortly after 6:00 p.m. as the Republican candidate addressed the rally.
The Secret Service quickly escorted President Trump off the stage during the rally after gun shots were fired.
