Spanish professional football manager, Mikel Arteta, has reportedly secured a new three-year contract with Arsenal.

The latest development thereby resolves any uncertainties regarding Arteta’s future with the English Premier League club.

Naija News reports that 42-year-old Arteta has been at the helm of the Gunners since 2019, achieving consecutive second-place finishes in the league, although he was approaching the final year of his existing contract.

Last month, Arteta urged for patience concerning his contract negotiations, emphasizing that his primary focus was on the transfer window.

This new agreement is announced just before Arsenal’s Premier League match against their London rivals, Tottenham, scheduled for Sunday.

Since transitioning from a coaching position at Manchester City to succeed Unai Emery at the Emirates, Arteta, a former player for Arsenal, has not only secured trophies but has also reestablished the club as contenders for the Premier League title.

In his inaugural season, the Gunners claimed the FA Cup.

Additionally, Arsenal have finished as runners-up in the Premier League for the last two seasons, engaging in thrilling title races against the champions, Manchester City.

Currently, Arsenal occupies the fourth position in the league standings, having achieved two victories and one draw, and they are set to commence their Champions League campaign next week against Atalanta.
