2023: ‘All Petitions Against President Tinubu Are Terribly Hopeless’ – APC’s Basiru (Video)
The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has described all petitions challenging the victory of President Bola Tinubu at the 2023 presidential election as hopeless.
Naija News recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Tinubu the election winner. At the same time, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerged as the second, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) came third.
However, Atiku and Obi, who were Tinubu’s significant contenders at the polls, have challenged the election results.
This platform gathered that recently the Labour Party has been hammering on a rerun of the election as all parties await the outcome from the presidential election tribunal.
Giving his thoughts about a rerun, Basiru said he was not supposed to make comments on a matter that is sub judice.
He, however, noted that all petitions against Tinubu were ‘terribly hopeless.’
Basiru, while folding questions on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, said, “But since you have asked me,” he added, “from my knowledge of electoral law in Nigeria and having read the petitions and also being part of the proceedings, I would say that all the petitions against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s election are hopeless and nobody needs to even waste time in dismissing same.
“They are hopeless petitions, terribly hopeless.”
Basiru also spoke about other pressing issues like the cost of governance.
