The Benue State Governor-Elect, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, has pledged to revive the state from what he described as an Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

According to him, the state’s civil service is nothing to write home about, Naija News learnt.

He decried the situation where pensioners are being owed a backlog of salaries, pensions and gratuities by the state government.

The governor-elect promised to infuse life into the state to keep it moving when he spoke to pressmen after he visited President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday.

Alia said his administration will focus on reviving agriculture in the state and upgrading the state to feed the nation.

It would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, as the winner of the March 18 poll and the Governor-Elect.

The Catholic priest won 473,933 votes ahead of his closest rival and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Titus Uba, who scored 223,913.

The Returning Officer, Prof Faruq Kuta and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna declared Alia the winner.

Alia, who is a member of the ruling APC, is expected to take over from Governor Samuel Ortom of the PDP G5.
