PSG: Lionel Messi Must Return To Barcelona – Says Thierry Henry

French professional football coach and Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, has urged Argentine star, Lionel Messi, to leave Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and return to Barcelona this summer.

Naija News understands that PSG suffered an embarrassing defeat to Lyon in their French Ligue 1 match on Sunday, April 2, 2023.

This is PSG’s second consecutive home defeat in French Ligue 1. The PSG home supporters were whistling and booing their players off the pitch after the Lyon defeat, including Messi and Kylian Mbappe.

Speaking on Amazon Prime after the game, Henry said it was embarrassing for the fans to boo Messi, saying the Argentina World Cup winner must return to Barcelona.

“It is embarrassing to hear whistles from the Parc. You can’t whistle one of the best players on the team, who has thirteen goals and thirteen assists this season,” Henry said.

The 45-year-old former player added: “Personally, I would like to see him finish his career at Barcelona, in Europe. After that, I don’t know what he’ll do. Messi must return to Barcelona for the love of football and because he did not leave like he should have.”

Finally, Chelsea Sack Graham Potter

Meanwhile, English Premier League side, Chelsea FC on Sunday announced that Graham Potter has departed Stamford Bridge.

Naija News reports that the West London club made this known in a statement on its website.

The statement reads: “Graham has agreed to collaborate with the Club to facilitate a smooth transition.

“In his time with the club, Graham has taken us to the quarter-final of the Champions League, where we will face Real Madrid.

“Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well for the future.”

The Blues announced that Bruno Saltor will take charge of the team as Interim Head Coach.

Co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali said: “On behalf of everyone at the club, we want to thank Graham sincerely for his contribution to Chelsea. We have the highest degree of respect for Graham as a coach and as a person. He has always conducted himself with professionalism and integrity and we are all disappointed in this outcome.

“Along with our incredible fans, we will all be getting behind Bruno and the team as we focus on the rest of the season. We have 10 Premier League games remaining and a Champions League quarter final ahead. We will put every effort and commitment into every one of those games so that we can end the season on a high.”
