Political commentator, Kayode Ogundamisi has reacted to the alleged call between the presidential candidate of the Labour party (LP), Peter Obi and the General Overseer of the Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo

Ogundamisi in reaction to the trending issue raised questions on who tapped their phones.

In the trending audio Obi on the eve of the presidential election had allegedly asked Bishop Oyedepo to mobilize support for him from the church.

But the head of the Obi-Datti campaign media team, Diran Onifade, has dismissed the said audio, claiming that it was a propaganda by the All Progressives Congress.

Ogundamisi, however, in a post on his Twitter account on Sunday said wiretapping of private phone conversations in the country is an invasion of privacy.

The journalist raised questions about who is behind the wiretapping of phone conversations.

He noted that it would have been understandable if it was security agencies, he, however, claimed that private organizations are increasingly snooping.

Ogundamisi further stated that citizens have inalienable rights to privacy.

He wrote, “For the records, I do not endorse @PeterObi’s bigotry in his ‘Yes Daddy’ conversation with Bishop David Oyedepo, however, I am worried about the increasing unauthorized wiretapping of private telephone conversations in Nigeria.
It is a clear invasion of privacy and should stop.

“The question here is, who is doing the wiretapping? It is understandable when security agencies wiretap via a warrant, it, however, appears that private organizations are increasingly snooping. The widespread use of secret surveillance should be investigated and discouraged.

“Citizens have inalienable rights to privacy, including correspondence made either via telephone communications or made in private, this is one right protected by the Nigerian constitution, and only a court can approve the invasion of such privacy for security/crime investigation.”
