Former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr Sam Amadi, has publicly declared his intention to contest in the 2023 governorship election in Imo State.

Amadi revealed on Friday (today) that he would be contesting the state’s top political seat on the Labour Party (LP) platform.

In a series of posts on his official Twitter handle, Amadi said, “I didn’t Buy Form for Anyone. Dr Sam Amadi can never buy form for any person in the world. All my life I have been authentic I have never been or ever will be a front. A man who refused the Director of Research of Atiku Presidential Campaign Council because of principle will he be the person who will buy form for someone else? Hogwash.

“As Margaret Thatcher said “This lady is not turning”. Sam Amadi is not for turning. I bought my form for myself. In 2018 I bought my form for N23m to contest for Governorship Primary under APGA and went through all the 27 LGAs presenting my vision of community prosperity. I wasn’t a front them for anyone. Now that I am a national figure I will be bending low to front for expiring politicians.

“Take this to the bank. Dr Sam Amadi is not for turning. I am real. I am in the race to achieve the dream of NEW IMO. Don’t mind those who are frightened because the people are up to choose the person who can best serve them.

“Let’s move on with the NEW IMO.”

Naija News reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the governorship election in Imo alongside Kogi and Bayelsa states for November 11, 2023.
