Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat, Obasa, 39 Others Receive Certificates Of Return

The Lagos State governor-elect,  Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his running mate, Obafemi Hamzat and elected Assembly members in the state have received their certificates of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Naija News gathered that the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Lagos, Oyo and Ekiti states, Mr Sam Olumekun presented the certificate of return to the governor, his deputy, the speaker of the State assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, and thirty-nine other members of the Assembly.

Olumekun, in a brief remark, said the commission would continue to create the needed level playing field for all willing to partake in elections in the country.

Also speaking at the ceremony was the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr Olusegun Agbaje, who admonished  politicians tin the country to change their do or die attitude to good conduct in politics.

Agbaje noted that political violence, thuggery, vote buying and other forms of election vices must be put aside by political stakeholders in order to attain the desired sustainable democratic ideals for the people.

Also in a brief remark, Sanwo-Olu, called on residents of the state to shun all forms of ethnic diversity, and join hands with him to build a greater Lagos, and he also appreciated INEC for the conduct of the election.

It would be recalled that NEC had declared the Lagos State Governor, Sanwo-Olu, winner of the governorship election held in the state on Saturday, March 18.

Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress cleared 19 out of the 20 local government areas of the state in the election.

He  polled 762,134 votes, to defeat his closest rival, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party who polled 312,329 and followed by Olajide Adeniran of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 62,449 votes.
