As the battle for the leadership of the 10th National Assembly is ongoing, some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have made case for a southern Christian Senate President.

Naija News reports that even though the APC is yet to zone principal offices of the yet-to-be-inaugurated parliament, some senators like Orji Uzor Kalu, Jibrin Barau, Sani Musa, Godswill Akpabio, Dave Umahi, Osita Izunaso, and Ahmad Lawan have already expressed their interest for the position of the Senate President.

However, the lawmaker representing Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency in Oyo State, Akin Alabi, has made a case for a Southern Christian to emerge as Senate President.

According to him, with the President-elect, Bola Tinubu and his vice coming from the Muslim side, it is just fair and expected that the southern part of the country produces the number three person who is a Christian.

Alabi, while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Tuesday, opined that the region gave part of the highest votes during the election so it was expected that they have something too from the incoming 10th assembly.
