The PUNCH: The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, who stepped aside from his position on Tuesday, is set to fight his suspension by a Benue State High Court, Makurdi on Monday. Ayu’s Special Assistant on Communication, Simon Imobo-tswam, disclosed this to our correspondent shortly after the party announced the appointment of the Deputy National Chairman, (North), Umar Damagum Ayu as the acting national chairman.


The Guardian: A day after a high court in Benue State granted an interim order restraining Dr. Iyorchia Ayu from parading himself as National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the major opposition party, yesterday, appointed its Deputy National Chairman (North), Ambassador Umar Damagum, as acting national chairman.


The Nation: President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu is in the best position to perform creditably after taking office on May 29, President Muhammadu Buhari said yesterday. According to him, Tinubu’s experience in the private and public sectors and his knowledge of politics and the economy have also put him on a good pedestal to discharge the duties of the presidential office.


Daily Trust: The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) is yet to resume full services on the Abuja-Kaduna rail, one year after it was attacked by terrorists, Daily Trust reports. Yesterday marked one year since the train, carrying 398 passengers was attacked by terrorists. The attack on March 28, 2022, which shook the nation, led to the death of nine passengers and the abduction of over 60 others.
