Some residents of Lagos State have taken to the micro blogging platform Twitter to react to the resumption of 100% payment on government bus fares in the state.

Naija News earlier reported that residents of the state would go back to 100% payment of government owned buses popularly known as BRT starting from April 1, 2023.

It was gathered that the state government discontinued the 50% slash in prices of bus fares in the state.

It would be recalled that the Lagos State Governor,  Babajide Sanwo-Olu ordered a slash in prices to 50%.

A move he said was to cushion the hardship caused by the fuel scarcity and cash crush faced by Nigerians.

However, in a recent development, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) on Tuesday, disclosed that the slash in prices had come to an end.

LAMATA in a public notice posted on their Twitter account said fares of state-owned buses will return to a 100 percent rate on April 1.

However, several mixed reactions from netizens have since trailed the notice from LAMATA.

Below are some of the reactions:

“100% is to much for us. @MetroLagos should look into it. Entry 500 bus in the morning 500 in afternoon is not child’s play.”

“I love this. You can increase it to 200%. We will pay”

@chukwukwame
“Is the 100% full return also inclusive of returning A/C back into the buses? Because there’s no need paying full rates for a BRT bus with 49 sitting, 99 standing and no A/C”
