Makinde, Deputy, 32 Others Receive Certificates Of Return

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and his deputy, Bayo Lawal have on Wednesday received their certificates of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Naija News reports that with them were 32 other members of the state House of Assembly who emerged winners in the election.

According to the Oyo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Adeniran Tella, the use of technology, which is the BVAS device, for the 2023 polls has brought value addition to the country’s electoral process.

at the University of Ibadan, called for the support of the political class to help the commission conduct a better exercise in coming elections.

Also speaking at the ceremony was the
INEC National Commissioner for Oyo, Lagos, and Ekiti states, Mr Sam Olumekun, who remarked that the preparation for the 2023 election started immediately the 2019 polls ended.

He claimed thet the ample time of preparation for the just concluded polls contributed to its success.

Tella, also appreciated all stakeholders for their contributions to the success of the elections.

It would be recalled that Makinde, who contested for a second term bid on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was declared winner of the March 18 governorship polls.

He won his reelection bid by defeating his closest opponent in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Teslim Folarin by winning in 31 out of the 34 local government areas.
