Blind Man Allegedly Beheads Wife Over Threat To Divorce Him
The Nkawkaw Magistrate Court in Ghana has remanded a 71-year-old visually impaired man, identified as George Mudor, in police custody for killing his wife in her sleep.
Naija News learnt that Mudor allegedly killed his 65-year-old wife, Madam Grace with a machete on March 14, 2023, at Abepotia near Nkawkaw in the Kwawu West Municipality of the Eastern region, in Ghana.
The victim, who was fed up with taking care of her blind husband for over five years, is said to have threatened to divorce him.
However, the suspect in the early hours of March 14 beheaded his wife while she was still sleeping.
In court, the suspect admitted to killing his wife over her decision to divorce him and pleaded for mercy before His Worship, Isaac Agyei.
According to him, his wife of 28 years enjoyed the blessings in his life with him and threatened to divorce him when things became bad.
Co-tenants said the murder was intentional as the suspect had allegedly made such threats that were not taken seriously due to his condition.
A brother of the deceased, Samuel Aliffo, said they were shocked by the act of the suspect and asked for justice to prevail.
Mudor is expected to appear before the court on April 5, 2023.
