Imo Lawmaker, Egwin Is Dead

The lawmaker representing Ideato North state constituency in the Imo House of Assembly, Arthur Egwim, has died.

In a statement on Tuesday signed by the House Speaker, Emeka Nduka (APC Ehime Mbano), Egwim died on Monday following some health-related issues.

The speaker described the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) lawmaker as “a ranking parliamentarian of note and a strong voice at the assembly.”

Nduka further noted that his death would create a vacuum in the house as he was one of the house’s “finest and best brains” and prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.

Egwim was first elected into the eighth house in 2015. He had served as a chief whip of the house.

He contested the House of Representatives seat in the February 25 national assembly elections on the platform of APGA but failed.
