A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Shehu Sani, has condemned the attack on the residence of a Kano singer, Dauda Kahutu Rarara.

Naija News reports that some unidentified thugs set the residence of the Kano singer on fire a few hours after the governorship candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Abba Kabir Yusuf, was declared winner of the Kano State election.

Rara, a supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a close ally of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, was involved in the APC rallies during the governorship campaign.

An eyewitness, who happens to be a resident of the area, Yusuf Abdullahi, said the thugs invaded the house and started destroying valuables before setting the house on fire.

The police, however, were able to disperse the thugs, and the fire was eventually put out by firefighters after several attempts.

In a tweet via his verified Twitter account on Wednesday, Sani said even though his political views and that of the singer are the opposite, the arsonists’ attack on his residence is condemnable.

He wrote: “The Political views of the Kano-based Hausa musician Rarara are the opposite of mine, but the arsonists’ attack on his home is condemnable.”
