PDP’s Ladi Adebutu Leads Protest To INEC Office In Ogun

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu has led party supporters to protest at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abeokuta the state capital.

Adebutu, who has rejected the outcome of the March 18 governorship and state assembly election alleged that the conduct of the election was characterised by rigging and several irregularities.

Naija News gathered that the PDP chieftain in Ogun State told pressmen on Tuesday during the peace full protest that the exercise had become necessary due to the alleged compromise that was observed during the conduct of the polls.

Adebutu said the protest was to express his displeasure about the outcome of the election that was allegedly marred by irregularities.

It was gathered that the protesters who had placards with different inscriptions on them were not allowed entry into the premises of the INEC in the Ogun capital for fear of break down of law and order.

Recall that the incumbent governor of the state, Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner of the last Saturday’s polls by the electoral body.

However, in a swift reaction, the governor’s camp has reacted to the allegation of irregularities and rigging.

The State Ogun Publicity Secretary of the APC, Tunde Oladunjoye described the allegations as false.

He called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (INEC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to arrest of some PDP members with permanent voter cards (PVCs) and preloaded Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) on election day.
