Ortom Reacts To Akume's Appointment As SGF

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom on Wednesday constituted a transition committee ahead of the handover to the incoming administration on May 29, 2023.

This is as the governor reacted to the last Saturday’s polls saying the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state is still studying the results of the governorship election and would soon make its position clear on the outcome of the election.

Ortom as gathered by Naija News made the disclosure when he presided over the State Executive Council meeting at the Benue Peoples House in Makurdi.

While announcing the composition of the committee, Ortom said the committee is expected to come up with its report within three weeks.

The committee he revealed is headed by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Prof Tony Ijohor, and Director of the EXCO, Bartholomew Aondoaver Ageraga would serve as the secretary, while others include all members of the State Executive Council.

The governor in his comment about the last Saturday’s polls faulted the security agencies for allegedly militarising the election by intimidating and torturing the people.

Ortom also alleged that some people were even killed in some places by the security forces deployed by the Federal Government.

He urged the people of the state to remain peaceful, adding that his administration is committed to the cause of peace.
