Photos: Security Operatives Barricade Roads To INEC Office In Kano
On Sunday, March 19, 2023, security operatives barricaded all roads leading to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Kano headquarters to avoid unforeseen occurrences while the commission continued with the collation and declaration of election results.
Kano is one of the 28 out of 36 states of the federation where governorship and the house of assembly elections were conducted on Saturday, March 18, Naija News reports.

Controversy Over Ex-Kano Councillor Shot Dead Over Alleged Box Snatching
Earlier in Kano, security operatives reportedly shot dead a former councillor of Getso ward, Ibrahim Nakuzama, over alleged ballot box snatching.
It was reported that Nakuzama was gunned down in the Gwarzo local government area of Kano State during the governorship and state assembly candidates elections on Saturday.
An associate of the deceased who confirmed the incident to newsmen on condition of anonymity said he can not reveal the details about the incident as he is yet to recover from the shock.
The platform further stated that Nakuzama, earlier in the day, brought refreshments for agents of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) at his polling unit.
Those close to him said it was impossible that he was attempting to snatch ballot boxes.
Nakuzama left behind two wives and six children. The Police Public Relations Officer in Kano, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, speaking on the development, said he is not aware of the case but would investigate and get it across.
The police had earlier arrested three persons, including Bashir Nasiru Aliko Koki, the Managing Director of Kano Line, for alleged ballot snatching at the Gwammaja area of Dala LGA of the state, Naija News understands.
There were several cases of ballot destruction at various polling units in the state’s Rimin Gado Local Government Area.
