Tragedy As Gunmen Kill Another PDP Chieftain In Ebonyi

Another stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, Oyibo Nwani, was on Saturday shot dead by political thugs.

Naija News gathered that Nwani, who was a PDP agent, was killed by the thugs who stormed his polling unit in the Onicha Local Government Area of the state.

The PDP chieftain was said to have been shot in the head while holding tightly to a ballot box during the governorship and House of Assembly elections in Ebonyi

In a chat with The Punch on Sunday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the killing of the politician.

She disclosed that Nwani was a victim of stray bullets from attacks by gunmen in the area.

It is understood that Nwani and the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Chief Ifeanyi Odii, are from the Onicha LGA.

This development comes hours after the PDP Chairman in the Ezza North Local Government Area of the state, Peter Nweke, was killed.

Nweke was attacked by suspected political thugs at his polling unit booth 10, Ogboji ward, Ezza North LGA Ebonyi State during Governorship and State Assembly elections.

It was gathered that the thugs wielding AK-47 riffles came on two motorcycles and surrounded his polling unit and battered him till he was in a comma.

This online news platform learned that the PDP Chieftain was rushed to the hospital unconscious following the attack.

However, Nweke who sustained several injuries from the attack was confirmed dead on Sunday (today) by the Police spokesperson in the state of Onome Onovwakpoyeya.
