INEC: Kenneth Okonkwo Reacts To Amaechi’s Revelation About Electoral Malpractices

Spokesman of the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council, Kenneth Okonkwo, has reacted to the statement of the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi over the irregularities and malpractice that marred the 2023 elections.

Naija News reports that Amaechi in a short clip shared online averred that the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State was not contesting against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but against the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Police.

He also recalled how he and others had opposed the reappointment of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) Chairman, Yakubu Mahmood.

According to him, Mahmood was recommended for reappointment by someone in the camp of the president-elect, Bola Tinubu.

In his words: “Some of us were opposed to the reappointment of Mahmood. The person who nominated him is Tinubu’s camp. So, what are you expecting? Success?

“Here in Rivers State, Mahmood Yakubu worked under Wike as Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund.

“So, what you are having in Rivers State is that APC, SDP and others are contesting elections not against PDP but against INEC, against police.”

Reacting to the statement, Kenneth Okonkwo linked Nigerians to the case of a person who ignorantly entered the space of criminals.

He, however, urged Nigerians not to lose hope as they will never surrender the country to hoodlums.
