Alake, Onanuga Speak About Tinubu Forming His Cabinet After Inauguration

The president-elect, Bola Tinubu, might be forming his cabinet less than 60 days after his inauguration as president.

The information was revealed by the Special Adviser to Tinubu, Dele Alake, as he said it won’t take his principal up to 60 days to form his cabinet, Naija News learnt.

Alake’s reaction follows reports that emerged on Friday that President Muhammadu Buhari signed a bill into law as part of the fifth amendment to the Constitution that presidents-elect and governors-elect should submit the names of their ministerial and commissioner nominees within 60 days of taking the oath of office for confirmation by the Senate or state House of Assembly.

Premised on this, Alake told The Punch that He said, “I told you in an earlier interview that it didn’t take Asiwaju more than three weeks to form his cabinet as governor. That was as at that time. I think 60 days is even too much. A month, maximum is enough for any serious government to form its cabinet and put a structure of government in place after the swearing-in.”

Corroborating Alake’s position was the Director of Media and Publicity for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Bayo Onanuga.

The APC chieftain said “What I can assure you is that even if the list is not ready on the first day, it will not take Asiwaju more than one month to put his cabinet together. He definitely will not wait for 60 days to assemble a competent cabinet.”

Onanuga, who declined to give further details however disassociated his principal from possible names of suggested cabinet members making the rounds in the media.
