35-Year-Old PDP Candidate Defeats Yobe Speaker After 20 Years In House

A 35-year-old candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lawan Musa, has defeated the Yobe State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon Ahmed Mirwa Lawan in the Nguru II constituency election.

The Returning Officer of the election, Dr Habib Muhammad who announced the result, said Musa scored 6,648 votes to defeat the Speaker, who is candidate of the All Progressives Congress who got 6,466 votes.

The Speaker has been in the House since 2003 when he was elected on the platform of the All Nigerian People Party (ANPP).
