It was reported that Nakuzama was gunned down in the Gwarzo local government area of Kano State during the governorship and state assembly candidates elections on Saturday.

An associate of the deceased who spoke with Daily Trust on condition of anonymity said he can not reveal the details about the incident as he is yet to recover from the shock.

The platform further stated that Nakuzama earlier in the day brought refreshments for agents of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) at his polling unit.

Those close to him said it was impossible that he was attempting to snatch ballot boxes.

Nakuzama left behind two wives and six children.
