Unknown gunmen have kidnapped the deputy governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in Cross River, Prince Agbor Onyi, and three others.

Naija News learned that Onyi and the other victims were kidnapped along the Calabar-Ugep highway in Calabar, the state capital on Thursday night.

It was gathered that the victims were abducted while they were returning from a political meeting ahead of Saturday’s governorship and state assembly elections.

However, at the time of filing this report, it has not been confirmed if the victims’ families have been contacted by the kidnappers.

Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune, the YPP State Chairman, and the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Chairman, Anthony Bissong, confirmed the incident.

He said a public statement will be issued much later on the incident.

“We are preparing a Press Statement much later,” he said.
