President Muhammadu Buhari has begged successive governments in the country to maintain his fight against anti-corruption.

According to the president, his administration has laid down the foundation for the war against the corruption menace in the country and it would be his wish for other governments after him to continue and build on it.

President Buhari, Naija News learnt made the pronouncement on Thursday when he met with the management of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) led by its Chairman, Danladi Umar, at the state house.

The President in a statement issued by presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina explained that corruption has remained a great threat to various countries including Nigeria.

He commended the Code of Conduct Tribunal under the leadership of its Chairman, Danladi Umar and other similar agencies for their sacrifices towards the fight against corruption even in the midst of the stiff economic and revenue shortages.

Buhari described the CCT as “an important tool in our fight against corruption over the last seven years”, noting that the CCT “which is in the trenches are relied upon to demonstrate that the government means what it says and remains committed against corruption in all its forms.”

“It is our hope that the foundation which has been laid by this administration will be carried forward and continued, as the issue of corruption remains an existential threat to all nations,”  the President said.
