The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has disclosed why a chieftain of his party, Bode George, endorsed the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, for the gubernatorial election.

Naija News reports that Jandor, during an interview on Arise TV on Wednesday, said his refusal to accept the former deputy chairman of PDP as his godfather earned the LP candidate his support.

Adediran noted that he fought godfatherism in APC and met a similar case in PDP, notwithstanding he was able to secure the party’s governorship ticket without any support from some PDP chieftains.

He claimed that George also tried to sell Rhodes-Vivour to him as a running mate after he clinched the party’s ticket which he refused.

He said: “I went into Bode George’s house despite the fact that the house has nothing in terms of structure that can even make you to be governor but I went there through Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to say I am going into PDP. I know this has always been the problem if we are able to address the matter that has always been the problem; then the problem is half solved; so I am going into that house to work hand-in-hand with the principalities in APC.

“I know so when I got in there that they were preparing to have state excos congress elections and it was during that time I met Mr Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour at Dr Bukola Saraki’s place who introduced him to me. He said he’s one of you in PDP; where you are coming into; he wants to be party secretary in the next congress.

“So I was able to clinch the ticket without the support of anyone of them and won the primary so immediately after winning the primary, the same Chief Bode George came to sell Gbadebo to me to pick as my running mate and I was like; I can’t fight a godfather where I am coming from and I am here babysitting another godfather. It shows we are not standing for anything so I refused; that’s why you will see him eulogising the other guy at the expenses of the candidate of his own party.

“Just about a few days ago, the same Chief Bode George came out to say some people want to kill Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour; so you will now understand what is happening, it’s across board in terms of this godfatherism.”
