Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to the failure of the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, to congratulate Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu.

Naija News earlier reported that the US leader has not sent a personal congratulatory message to Tinubu since he was declared the winner of the February 25th presidential election in Nigeria.

Tinubu who emerged as the winner of the country’s fiercely contested presidential election is yet to receive an official congratulations from U.S. President Biden, as it is customary when any nation deemed an American ally elects a new president.

Amidst the reactions that have trailed the development, Fani-Kayode opined that Biden’s congratulatory message does not change the fact that Tinubu is the president-elect of the biggest, richest, and most enlightened nation in Africa and Western world’s biggest trading partner on the continent.

According to him, the American State Department and American Ambassador to Nigeria have congratulated Tinubu and it reflects a measure of respect.

However, it is important for the US President to call Tinubu as Nigeria is a big nation and does not deserve less.

He wrote: “Whether @JoeBiden calls to congratulate him or not @officialABAT is the President-elect of the biggest, richest, most populous, most advanced & most enlightened nation in Africa & the Western world’s biggest trading partner on the continent. They need us as much as we need them.

“Yes the American State Department and the American Ambassador to Nigeria both congratulated Asiwaju. For this we are eternally grateful & it reflects a measure of respect. However its time for Joe to pick up the phone & add his voice. We are a big nation: we deserve no less.”
